About ReelSaver

Last updated: 13 October 2026

ReelSaver (also written Reel Saver) is a free web tool and Android app for saving public Instagram Reels, videos, photos, stories and audio to your own device. You paste a link, we fetch the original file, and it downloads in the quality it was uploaded in — no account, no Instagram login and no software to install.

Why we built it

Instagram has no built-in way to keep an offline copy of a reel. Creators lose access to their own edits when they switch phones, social media managers need to archive a client's published posts, and teachers and students want to keep a clip for a lesson without relying on a connection. ReelSaver started as a small tool to solve that for ourselves and grew into the site you're on now.

What ReelSaver does

Step-by-step guides for each device are on our iPhone, Android and PC pages, and our Guides cover backing up your account, reposting with credit and fixing failed downloads.

How it works

When you paste a link, our server asks Instagram for the publicly available media behind that post and streams it straight to your browser. We don't keep copies of the files, we don't need your Instagram password, and private accounts are never accessible — if you can't see a post while logged out, ReelSaver can't either. Your recent downloads list is stored only in your own browser. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Respecting creators

Content on Instagram belongs to the people who made it. ReelSaver is meant for saving your own content, content you have permission to use, and personal offline viewing. Please don't re-upload other people's work as your own or use it commercially without their consent. If you're a rights holder and believe ReelSaver is being used to infringe your work, see our DMCA & copyright policy.

Independence

ReelSaver is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. "Instagram" is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.
